Washington, D.C.— On Tuesday, July 31, as Mitt Romney concludes his first foreign policy tour, the Center for American Progress Action Fund will host Doug Wilson, former assistant secretary of Defense, and other national security experts to discuss the real implications of Romney’s foreign policy agenda. At the event CAP Action will release a package of papers on Romney’s foreign policy framework, his proposed defense budget, and his roster of foreign policy advisors.

Gov. Romney has staked out national security positions that align his campaign closely with the more ideological neoconservatives of the Bush-Cheney era. This panel will analyze Gov. Romney’s national security proposals and assess Gov. Romney’s overseas trip this month. It will also examine his positions on Iran, China, and the global financial crisis, as well as the likely impact his calls for large defense spending increases would have on America’s overall strength and fiscal position.

The panel is part of a half-day event kicking off "Romney University," a series of events and paper releases aimed at providing influential policy and opinion makers inside the Beltway and beyond with all they need to know about Gov. Romney’s policy proposals.
