ADVISORY: Sen. Harkin to Discuss How the Federal Contracting System Harms Workers and Taxpayers

Washington, D.C. –

On Wednesday, December 11, the Center for American Progress Action Fund will host an event featuring Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA) to discuss how the federal contracting process can be improved to promote compliance with workplace laws. The conversation will explore why companies with the most egregious records of violating workplace laws often continue to receive government contracts and what improvements are needed to ensure that compliance with these important laws is considered in the contracting process. The Center for American Progress Action Fund will also release a new report demonstrating that contracting with these sorts of companies frequently results in poor performance on government contracts and a bad value for taxpayers.
