Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, July 31, CAP President and CAP Action Counselor Neera Tanden, MIT Economist Jonathan Gruber, and President of Doctors for America Dr. Vivek Murthy will discuss the anatomy of Romneycare and what the future of the American health care system would look like under a President Mitt Romney.
Throughout the primary, Republican presidential nominee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has tried time and again to disown his own health care plan, which he implemented as governor of Massachusetts, because of its similarities with the president’s plan. This conversation will focus on the shared history of market-based health care reform, the sameness of Romneycare and Obamacare, and candidate Romney’s proposal to repeal, but not replace, health care reform.
This panel is part of a half-day event kicking off Romney University, a series of events and paper releases aimed at providing influential policymakers and opinionmakers inside the Beltway and beyond with all they need to know about Gov. Romney’s policy proposals.
