CAP Action’s Moscow Project Releases Video Explainer Detailing Investigation That Got Comey Fired

In light of the firing of FBI Director James Comey because of the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election, the Center for American Progress Action Fund’s Moscow Project released a video today highlighting the vast web of President Donald Trump’s connections to the Kremlin. The video provides an overview of Trump’s relevant financial ties, explains Vladimir Putin’s “venture capitalist” approach to sowing discord in western democracies, and highlights how the two converged during the campaign.

“Vladimir Putin saw Donald Trump as the perfect mark, and Russia’s unprecedented attack on American democracy during the election was a deliberate attempt to place Trump in the White House,” said Corey Ciorciari, CAP Action Policy and Research Director. “James Comey was investigating this when he was fired by Donald Trump. Given what we know, an independent investigation must be conducted under a special prosecutor.”

The video is a glimpse into the Moscow Project’s work to uncover facts and explain this massive, sprawling story. With Comey’s firing it’s never been more clear that there is far more information that still needs to come to light.
