Washington, D.C. — The Center for American Progress Action Fund is hosting a virtual event on the extreme, unprecedented, and undemocratic election sabotage laws enacted in several states. The panel includes state legislators and county election officials from Georgia, Michigan, and Texas, who will highlight the dangerous new state provisions that allow for partisan removal of local election officials, unimpeded access of partisan poll watchers, and partisan interference in election administration.
The panel will also examine other developments across the country that threaten the basic principles of a healthy democracy by heightening the possibility of election sabotage. Each of these topics underscores the need for Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act immediately, no matter what it takes.
