PRESS CALL: Judiciary Committee Chairman Previews Hearing on Corporate Friendly Rulings by U.S. Supreme Court

Washington, D.C. – Next week, the U.S. Supreme Court will conclude its 2010-2011 term. During this term, the Roberts Court has decided along sharply divided ideological lines many significant cases that bolster the rights of big business at the expense of individual Americans.

On Wednesday June 29, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) will hold a hearing to discuss the term’s key corporate-friendly decisions in 2010-2011. This will be the ninth hearing of Sen. Leahy’s series dedicated to exploring the impact of the Court’s rulings on the lives of individual Americans. Sen. Leahy will preview the hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Please join U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, to preview his hearing, as well as Doug Kendall, founder and president of the Constitutional Accountability Center, and author of several groundbreaking empirical studies on the influence of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce before the Court.

During the call, Constitutional Accountability Center will release its end-of-term issue brief, summarizing the biggest cases of the term and updating its Chamber of Commerce empirical study. To review CAC’s three previous empirical studies, click here.
