WHAT: The Summit to be held on August 10 at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) will engage high-level Nevada and national leaders from government, business, labor and non-profit organizations in a discussion about the transformation of our nation’s energy policies and the jobs that will be created as a result of it.
Topics of discussion for the news teleconference include:
- Senator Reid will offer an overview of the expectations and purpose of Summit 2.0, and the role Nevada will play in leading the nation’s clean-energy revolution.
- Center for American Progress Action Fund President John Podesta will explain the topics and recommendations that will shape a clean-energy future as well as touch on a key focus of this year’s summit: jobs. A recent CAP Action study shows that clean-energy initiatives can create a net 1.7 million jobs for Americans.
- Boone Pickens will give us an update on the Pickens Plan.
