Washington, D.C. — With the midterm elections less than two weeks away, the Center for American Progress Action Fund today released a new social media video, “Culture of Corruption,” highlighting the last two years of corruption under President Donald Trump and the Republican majorities in Congress.
“Under Trump’s so-called leadership, the culture of corruption has infected every level of government. From private jet trips on the taxpayer dime, alleged insider trading, and a tax bill that enriched GOP members of Congress and conservative donors, it’s clear that Republicans see government service as an opportunity to line their own pockets,” said Navin Nayak, executive director of CAP Action. “The White House, Trump’s Cabinet, and the Republican majorities in the House and the Senate have abused the public’s trust and confidence in government.”
The video invokes two years of government officials putting their own personal gain and benefits for their donors ahead of the interests of working people and middle class families, from congressional ethics to Cabinet graft to the donor-driven tax bill and cascading indictments.

CAP Action has led the charge for accountability on the culture of corruption in Washington for the past year, including the #BootPruitt campaign, insightful research and polling, and an expose highlighting the giveaways for members of Congress and big corporate interests in the Republican-led tax bill. To change this culture of corruption, CAP Action has strongly supported the pledge to reject corporate PAC money—embraced by 130 House and Senate candidates—and has promoted crucial government reforms proposed by the Democracy and Government Reform team at the Center for American Progress.
