Washington, D.C. — ThinkProgress released a mobile app this week that allows readers to access the blog’s expert content on the go. ThinkProgress has established itself as the go-to platform for fact checking, analysis, and breaking news, and the new app makes accessing and sharing the blog’s exclusive content easier than ever.
The site’s blog, Twitter feed, and Facebook page reach millions of readers and, even before the release of the mobile app, 25 percent of the site’s traffic came from mobile devices. In October the blog attracted 5.8 million unique visitors, more than doubling its audience over the last year. More than 180,000 Twitter users follow @thinkprogress, and over 124,000 subscribe to the site’s Facebook page.
In the past year ThinkProgress has served as an essential news source for election coverage, breaking stories on the purging of eligible voters in Florida; voter suppression tactics in Wisconsin; and the smearing of Tammy Duckworth, a double amputee veteran running for Congress in Illinois, among others. Its real-time fact checking of the presidential debates went viral, garnering over 3 million page views.
ThinkProgress was founded in 2005 and recently expanded its full-time staff to 25 writers and editors.
The ThinkProgress Mobile App runs on any Apple iOS device running iOS 6.0 or later and can be downloaded for free in the App Store.
