Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives gaveled out of session after failing to elect a new speaker. In response, Patrick Gaspard, CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, released the following statement:
The world is on fire. Our allies are under attack. It’s embarrassing that Republicans’ dysfunction and chaos is weakening America and our allies. It’s time for five House Republicans to put the country first and support Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who has committed to working in a bipartisan manner to make government work for the American people.
