Washington, D.C. — On Monday, July 23, at 1 p.m. EDT/10:00 a.m. PDT, experts from the Center for American Progress Action Fund, Latino Decisions, and America’s Voice will release the full results of a new national poll of 504 registered Latino voters conducted nationwide between July 7–16, 2012. These numbers and accompanying analysis will reveal how these voters view the politics of immigration in light of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Arizona’s S.B. 1070 and President Barack Obama’s decision to stop the deportation of DREAM-eligible young people.
This full group of poll results probes voters’ enthusiasm and attitudes toward the two parties, providing important context as to how the issue will shape the outcomes in the November presidential election. Pollsters and advocates will also analyze recent immigration polling of general voters and discuss where they stand on both the policy and politics of this issue.
Partial poll results on the Obama-Romney horse race, showing President Obama leading with 70 percent of likely Latino voters to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s 22 percent, were released on July 17, and updated information on voters’ opinions on S.B. 1070 was released at a CAP Action event on July 19.
