Governors, mayors, and other elected officials are facing unprecedented challenges as they work to administer safe elections during a global pandemic this November. U.S. elections are already complicated operations, made more difficult this year by the need to ensure that voting is safe during the ongoing public health crisis. That is why it is more important than ever that governors and mayors join forces to facilitate voter registration and participation, recruit and retain poll workers, and promote voter education.
The Center for American Progress Action Fund, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA), and the National Conference of Democratic Mayors (NCDM) are partnering to raise awareness about steps governors, mayors, and voting rights advocates are taking to protect U.S. elections this November, as well as further actions that should be undertaken by state and city leaders over the coming weeks to ensure that every American citizen can vote safely. Please join us for a discussion about the critical steps state and local elected officials are taking to make sure every person can vote in November.
Following this launch event, CAP Action, DGA, and NCDM will be announcing additional discussions with governors and mayors from specific states to discuss their work to improve election infrastructure and implement robust voter education plans.
