***THIS CALL HAS BEEN POSTPONED***

Washington, D.C. — Republicans in the Virginia House of Delegates continue to deny health care to 400,000 Virginians and prevent the creation of more than 30,000 much-needed jobs. For months, the lower chamber has refused any effort to compromise in order to close the coverage gap and has offered no alternatives of their own. Recent events show the lengths that the House Republican caucus will go to in order to deny access to care for hardworking Virginians.

In an open letter to be released on Tuesday, Center for American Progress Action Fund President and former Gov. Ted Strickland (D-OH) calls on Republicans in the Virginia House of Delegates—specifically House Speaker William Howell—to stop playing politics with the health and livelihoods of thousands of Virginians.

Gov. Strickland will join Virginia State Sen. Donald McEachin (D) and Progress Virginia Executive Director Anna Scholl in a press conference call to release the open letter and discuss the need to provide access to care for 400,000 Virginians.
