Azza Altiraifi is a research and advocacy manager for the Disability Justice Initiative at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Altiraifi worked at Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, where she managed public programming, developed improved standards of disability access, and amplified underrepresented issues impacting the region. Altiraifi completed an internship with Green Door Behavioral Health, where she conducted research and organized campaigns on disparities in access to mental health treatment in D.C. She has also been active in local and national advocacy work, consulting with numerous Muslim-led organizations on matters of accessibility and cross-movement coalition building. Altiraifi holds a bachelor’s degree in law and society from American University.
