Abril Castro is a research assistant for Race and Ethnicity Policy at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Castro worked at the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA), where she served in the committee’s political department. Castro was also heavily involved with the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) in Washington, D.C., where she organized political panels with Latino civil rights leaders and members of Congress to highlight the important role Latinos play in politics.
Castro graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science. She previously interned with the Aspen Institute and Excelencia in Education. Castro spent the majority of her youth in the emerging Latino community of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
