Lea Hunter is a research assistant for Criminal Justice Reform at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Hunter worked in former Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) office and interned for the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee. Hunter graduated summa cum laude from the University of Utah, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and interned for the Utah state commissioner of higher education and The Road Home women’s shelter. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the discourse of gender in public policy. Hunter is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah.
