Leila Schochet is the research and advocacy manager for Early Childhood Policy at American Progress. Schochet’s research has focused on child care policy, as well as the intersections of child development and immigration, health, and public benefit programs. She also helps lead the team’s advocacy efforts in this role. Prior to joining American Progress, Schochet conducted research on increasing retention among early educators in child care centers across Vermont. She also interned at the Institute for Educational Leadership, where her work centered on communicating the importance of family and community engagement in education.
Schochet holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with minors in education studies and Spanish, from Middlebury College. She is originally from Princeton, New Jersey.
