Sabrina Talukder is the director of the Women’s Initiative at American Progress. Before her current role, Talukder was the federal policy director at the Sunita Jain Anti-Trafficking Initiative at Loyola Marymount University’s Loyola Law School, where she focused on trafficking prevention policies through the lens of climate equity, immigration reform, abortion access, and racial justice. Talukder also worked at The Legal Aid Society in New York City for six years, where she started as an equal justice works fellow. She represented incarcerated noncitizen survivors of sex and labor trafficking upon arrest in criminal, diversion, immigration, and appellate courts as well as before federal and local administrative agencies. Talukder’s work and expertise has been featured on CNN, The New Yorker, Telemundo, The Guardian, and The Hill on issues of abortion access, trafficking, immigration, and criminal law. Talukder received her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Irvine.
