Sarnata Reynolds is the senior director for Human Security and International Policy at American Progress. Prior to joining American Progress, Sarnata served as counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, where they drafted legislation for and advised Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY)​ and Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship Chairperson Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) on immigration and nationality issues. Most recently, they led migration and displacement policy at the Immigration Hub. Before that, they led humanitarian and human rights law and policy at Oxfam International, Refugees International, and Amnesty International. They began their career representing asylum-seekers and immigrants before the federal circuit and immigration courts. Sarnata holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School and a bachelor’s degree with honors in women’s studies from the University of Minnesota.
